WORKING FOR A BETTER GILROY
I am committed to addressing the challenges facing Gilroy with practical solutions. My key initiatives include:
District 5 Representation:
I will always champion District 5 residents and make sure their voices are heard in decisions large and small. As a leading voice on the City Council, I advocated for the city-approved map that created district elections, giving residents a directly elected representative. I have taken pride in meeting with constituents, listening to their concerns, and answering their questions—and I will continue to do so.
Economic Development:
Strong economic growth creates more opportunities for Gilroy. I will work to attract new businesses that expand our tax base, support existing businesses as they grow, and invest in workforce development to strengthen our local employee base. A vibrant business environment generates revenue for essential city services while helping keep taxes low.
Public Safety:
Keeping our families safe must always be a top priority. I will work to ensure our police have the tools, resources, and staffing needed to protect our neighborhoods and serve residents effectively. I will also support a long-term solution for comprehensive medical and fire services throughout the city.
Recreation:
Our residents deserve clean, safe, and accessible recreational spaces that support a healthy quality of life. I will advocate for parks, walking trails, Senior Center activities, and recreation programs that serve residents of all ages. I will also continue pushing to complete the Sports Park, including soccer and baseball fields for current and future generations.
Homeless Population:
Gilroy cannot solve homelessness alone, but we can make meaningful progress by partnering with local non-profits, service providers, and regional agencies. I will support a long-term plan that reduces street homelessness with measurable results, addresses impacts on local businesses, protects our creeks, and helps reduce visual blight in our community. At the same time, we must treat people experiencing homelessness with care, dignity, and compassion.
