On behalf of the Gilroy Firefighters Association, Local 2805, we would like to formally congratulate you on receiving our endorsement for City Council/District 5 in the upcoming election.

After reviewing your responses to our endorsement questionnaire and considering your positions on issues that directly impact our members, their families, and the fire service, we believe you demonstrate the character, values, and commitment that align with the principles of our association.

​

Your responses regarding firefighter staffing, fair compensation, employee benefits, retirement security, and public safety were particularly important to us. As an organization representing professional firefighters, we believe strong communities depend on a strong and adequately supported public workforce. Recruiting and retaining qualified firefighters requires competitive wages, quality benefits, safe working conditions, and staffing levels that allow us to provide the level of service our community deserves.

Local 2805 represents approximately 40 men and women who proudly serve the residents of Gilroy and contribute to the broader fire service throughout California. Our members understand firsthand the importance of investing in public safety and supporting the men and women who answer the call when our community needs them most.

As a labor organization, we also believe that our responsibility extends beyond the workplace. We advocate for working families, fair treatment of employees, responsible public policy, and strong partnerships between labor and elected leadership. We believe that when labor and elected officials work together in good faith, we can find solutions that strengthen both our workforce and the communities we serve.

Our endorsement represents our confidence that you will be a strong advocate for our community and that you understand the importance of maintaining a professional, respected, and properly supported fire service.

We look forward to building a productive relationship throughout your campaign and, should you be elected, throughout your term in office. As part of that partnership, Local 2805 is committed to supporting your campaign to the best of our abilities, including through social media, community and campaign events, district walks, and other appropriate campaign activities where our participation can be helpful.
